Orbital Patterns

The two moons that orbit our world are called Lunaris and Voliric. Lunaris passes fairly close to our world, but can only be seen for half the week. Voliric is much smaller and can only be seen for half of each month. Some nights go by with no moons in the sky, some with both. The moons are also visible sometimes at day.   It’s believed that the two moons were civilised planets thousands of years ago. The stories say that when the moons passed closest to each other, which only happens briefly every 350 years, the races from both planets went to war with each other.   As the story goes, the moons themselves decided against the fighting and pushed away from each other, out of passing orbital paths. The races on both planets have long been extinct.

A Week

There are 5 days in a week. A week follows the moon cycle of Lunaris, where one full cycle represents a week. Because of this, Lunaris is sometimes visible at day time, accompanying the sun in the sky.   Erathin - Erathis is the god of civilization and invention
Iounin - Ioun is the Goddess of Knowledge
Pelorin - Pelor is the God of Sun and Agriculture
Overin - The day the Great Giant War ended
Moradin - Moradin is the God of Creation

A Month

There are 8 months in a year, each of 19 days. A month follows the moon cycle of Voliric. It can’t generally be seen in day because it’s much smaller. Each month is named after an old star constellation.   Gallus - Rooster Constellation
Limax - Slug Constellation
Apes - Bee Constellation
Felis - Cat Constellation
Bufo - Toad Constellation
Capra - Goat Constellation
Hirudo - Leech Constellation
Noctua - Owl Constellation

A Year

There are a total of 152 days in a year, which are spread between the 8 months. Years don’t represent any astronomical bearing.   Due to the atmospheric level and various other complicated factors that we needn’t go into here, a year on our world ages a creature at the same speed as a 365 day year on the far and distant planet, Earth.

Holidays

Many different cultures celebrate their own religious holidays, however there are few that are welcomed by most:   1st Gallus - Avandra Day Celebrations. A day to celebrate the new year and the Goddess of Change and Luck. Everyone wishes each other ‘Avandra Bless You’ on this day to friends and family.   19th Felis - Sehanine Eve. Mostly a religious holiday to praise the Goddess of the Moon and thank her for the last 4 months. This marks the halfway point of the year.   29th Noctuna - Kord Day Celebrations. A day to celebrate the end of the year and the God of Strength and Storms. Everyone drinks heavily on this day to wash away their sins of the year.
