Session 12:Finding the item that bridges worlds Report

General Summary

Our heroes started the session deciding to long rest in the bunks of the people they just killed. Pretty smart move. Some time in the night, a load of miners return to their lodgings, followed by some more. Our PCs wake early and decide to ambush the miners, killing them pretty sharply while awaking them from their slumber. They press on through the mine.   The first room reveals a guy taking a shit. They close the door to let him get decent, and he throws a turd at them. Reggie nails him through the eye, they gets his hands dirty in the poop, to find nothing of note. The next room reveals a mage guy eating some soup! He turns invisible and the PCs search the room. He casts and tasty fireball and flees. He hides in some rocks near the bottom old staircase, before being struck down to his death. The PCs begin climbing down as three displacer beasts come from the shadows and devour his carcass. James and Hank fight one for a second then climb back up. They take a rest.   Heading north through the caverns, they discover a weird smog being released from a gem. It attacks them, which they eventually fend off. Hank gets the cool gem. Heading east now, they discover the way is blocked by a caved in passageway, but a tunnel has been dug through. They follow. In the next room, voices are heard and a fight ensues. Some miners and archers have returned with a large chest for two people. The battle looks like it's going well, before the boss detonates something and collapses the area of the mine he's stood in, and the way they came in first of all.   After a bit of scrambling, Maku tries digging his way out, but the loose rock keeps falling. James tries moving some but it fills too quickly. The two remaining archers here have lost their mind. The only course of action is to illuminate a gothic lantern found in the chest. As the light dimly increases, all happiness and fun from live leaves the characters bodies, and five dark dwarves stand around them, weapons clutched in their grasp.

Rewards Granted

Hank found a red/black gem (tourmaline) that looks expensive.
