Session 1: Have you got what it takes? Report

General Summary

Our heroes started in the town of Blackwell on the 11th of Capra. As the Burgomaster addressed the crowd and formed the brave folk into parties, our PCs met and seemed to entirely skip all the awkward first conversations most new friends go through. They ate and drank a little that night in The Gypsy and Chariot, before heading home with excitement for the following morning. Joe Smith has an interesting conversation on the way home.   They arrive early and get handed their quest and equipment. Their first port of call was to learn anything they could about "Kreiss" or the "Amulet of Sess'innek". Visiting the local bookstore, they learn that Sess'innek is a deity to lizardfolk. Then speaking to the Lord of Soil at the Earth Shrine, he enlightens some of the PCs on their duty as being one with nature and the world. Following this, they head to the two un-explored taverns and ask around. Speaking to Wenberg Burne, James learns that Stikron the wizard might be their best bet. At the foot of his tower, Stikron communicates in their mind and they form an agreement for information on the lizardfolk camp.   They set off with Hank's mule and cart and JGJr learns a little more on lizardfolk and the importance of a gift. Throughout the day they get lost a little, find 2 zombies attached to a tree, get ambushed by an awakened shrub, see a red boar, feel like they're being watched, fight 6 giant rats with fire for eyes, Maku-Maku gets attacked/loved by some apes, Hank has 'a moment' with some blood of a giant rat, and they stumble upon the Cave of Scales.   Heading inside and they trip the first trap of the campaign. Excellent. Crawling through the tunnels and James Grom Jr trips the second trap of the campaign. Fantastic. Hank has another 'moment' and finds the small statuette of a bird-man. Eventually, they come out into an eerie village with wooden pictures of owlbears, wolves, lizard men, and other creatures. They examine the 4 huts and find sticks with rope. Pulling one reveals a swarm of rats ready to eat anything they find. Maku-Maku does a good druid, but for the most part the PCs dispatch with the ravenous rodents. James and Joe set at digging the one rope that wasn't attached as the others explored the other huts, releasing a giant snake and a massive boulder in the process. They progress under the hut through the cave.   Coming out into the lizardfolk village, they're suspiciously greeted by the tribe. After brief discussion and presenting loads of food, Kreiss and the lizardfolk reluctantly agree to help (the PCs will be accompanied by Gaxl) after the party convince her that when they're good adventurers they'll secure the forest and benefit the tribe in general. She allows them to stay the night and confirms that lizardfolk can breath under water.

Rewards Granted

Maku-Maku got 2gp and 2sp in the rat hut.

Missions/Quests Completed

  • The party were tasked with finding the amulet of Sess'innek from Kreiss. They researched what a Kreiss or a Sess'innek is and learnt of a lizardfolk village in The Lonely Forest.
  • In return for information, they promised that Stikron could call on a favour at any time, and because they have a 'party pact' he said the favour will be greater than the sum of its parts. If they turn it down, he will claim their souls.
  • Joe Smith met with someone in a caravan
  • Maku-Maku saw a message in the monkeys that jumped him
  • Find two zombies attached to a tree that are the property of Stikron
