Session 2: Getting home with the amulet Report

General Summary

Our heroes started this session in the morning at the lizardfolk camp. Kreiss gives them the herbs and farewells them with Gaxl on their quest. On the way home the PCs encounter a statue of an old lady with a pointing finger. She zapped anyone that swears! Oops. However, that wasn't the last trouble on their journey. Further down the road, they come across a trio of blackscale lizardfolk, members of Class Drass and mortal enemies to the ally lizardfolk. After discussion they request to Gaxl to hand over the adventurers as lunch. The PCs (obviously) not happy with this attack! A fight ensues, but they see the amulet, and on its dying breath one calls for two other nearby scouts to flee and tell the tribe!   Our heroes do the heroic and right thing - they return to Kreiss and prepare fortifications for a fight. Sure to be outnumbered, they do their best to protect the young and fortify themselves in. But the blackscales are cunning! Riding giant spiders the peer over the top of the basin and launch javelin at the younglings and elderly. The PCs are left with no other choice but to make a run for it with the amulet. They get away after a volley of javelin miss on short range. Luckily they escape to fight another day and travel through the night to get back to Blackwell.   They return to a heroes welcome in the town, weary and exhausted. The Burgomaster congratulates them as the PCs demand they send some guards to help their green-scaled allies. Most of the party need rest however, and decide to wait until the next day to take the guards. Throughout the day they are given favours and free merchandise all over the shop, in the hope of being remembered when they're famous. That evening, they gather at Reginald's family home for a lovely stew supper by Bessie and Jonathan. Reg convinces his adoptive parents that he's part of a postal guild and has an errand to run with these new friends protecting him. They're proud as punch.   The next morning they set off with six local guards and a load of small potions of healing they stole from the green lizardfolk. Eek! On the way they encounter a scrawney mugger that's brushed aside, a creaky windmill, and get lost and find a bridge with a sign saying "TROLL!". Towards the end of the journey they come across a black twisted tree which bleeds black sap and produced a Death Dog when attacked! They fight the dog and all is good, until they find the Cave of Scales at least...   James climbs the cliff face and edges over the top of the basins, only to find bodies and evidence of bloodshed. Approaching cautiously, only dead remain, with Kreiss' head on a pike in the centre of the village. The shrine had been desecrated and the village destroyed. The party take a minute to assess the situation and discover that there's hope as the body count doesn't match the total village count.   Onwards to Norcastle...

James received a handful of coins from the trio of blackscale lizardfolk

They complete the quest of receiving the Amulet of Sess'innek! On paper anyway...
