Session 27: Into the deep, dark woods Report

General Summary

Our heroes start this episode heading into The Lonely Forest to find a portal or anything weird. It's raining. Heavy. It's grim.   Into the forest Bearbera uses her animalistic senses to speak to an owl that tells them of a cold area in the forest that isn't nice. Ok, first clue. Then a squirrel tells them of creepy bone thing. Squirrelly leads them to this horse made out of bones, entirely static. Of course, the only action is to smash it, where it comes alive and fights them! Orion learns that it was some kind of dark polymorph, but footprints indicate it was delayed in some way.   They get lost. Like, really lost. When they find their bearings later in the day they find a snowy veil in the rain where everything is snowy and cold. They short rest and hear a big roar and a shake. Orion and Joe check out the snow while invisible and have a small encounter with a zombie. They manage to shake them off and explore this snow-heavy landscape. After travelling for 20 mins and not finding much of anything, they return.   The rest of the day is uneventful. Our heroes long rest. A cloaked figure sits on a stump, and turns out it's actually loads of spiders in a cloak. James wears it and Orion learns that if James doesn't do what the cloak wants then he'll turn into a puppet of spiders. Orion learns a new spell. More footsteps are heard in the night.   The next morn, they set off into the snow, where they're attacked by a massive, kinda hunky guy with zombies hanging out of his belly. Weird. The fight takes a while, a few people almost go down, then when he falls finally he explodes into 6 plague-like zombies that start fleeing the scene.   We leave the session here with some zombies leaving the area.
