Session 28: The chilly forest Report

General Summary

Our heroes started this session chasing down some ogre zombie boys. Reggie finds them to help! They do a good job chasing down these tar-dripping zombie bastards and can finally explore a little. James and Joe find a massive 500ft wide snowy crater, with evidence that the floor kind of collapsed into itself. James makes a bonfire to keep everyone warm.   Half the party climb down, some more successfully than others. Bearbera thinks it's a good idea to help Jonathan down. He falls, his legs buckle and this horse tumbles down the bank. In the centre of this crater is 5 glassy, ice orbs, about 7 feet tall. Orion does a load of investigation and learns that the floor is transmutation and the orbs are abjuration. It seems like the orbs are guardians to whatever will happen to the floor.   Obviously, they smash an orb. The first one has two young ice creatures with fire running through their veins attack on sight. After defeating them Bearbera tears into the next one and a plague-like wyvern erupts in a flurry with their wide, clawed wings. The fight takes a while, and a few people go down, but Reggie commands the scaled bastard to approach, it abides, and they destroy it. Bearbera doesn't end the fight well, ending up with a fever of the mind and body (from the contagion spell). She's not in a good place.   Our heroes agree that more fighting would not be wise. Orion spends time investigating the final orbs. The third has a very strong magical pull, the fourth an intense coldness to it, and the fifth a religious or clerical draw. How odd.   We end the session with Reggie smashing the religious orb, expecting Tal'Atar to be in there.
