Session 4: Defeating the four-armed demons Report
General Summary
Our heroes started this week (evening of the 15's Capra) staring into the abyss, down a deep, damp stairwell, unsure of where it'll lead. On the way down the stairs, a brass large cat in the wall provoked much [loud] conversation, which resulted in a ringing gong from the room below. Entering the large room revealed no big, ugly monsters awaiting them, just an inch of water covering the floor and 6 doors or archways to explore.
First heading left, they were presented with two other doors and a worn curtain. Heading right resulted in the same, but with the pitter patter of footprints the other side of the door. Opting for the other route, a tortured and hungry tiger was released. Some quick thought from the party and they feed the tiger with all their bear-steak rations, releasing the beast from its hell. Going back through another door reveals a fungus covered corpse of a dwarf. Examining this allows the other four-armed Dolgrim to attack them. They make fairly easy work of this one and move on to the next room where they discover a heavy stone door with two key holes.
Continuing to explore the dungeon, they see a shrine to the elven goddess Corellon, then they find the skeleton of a child in a bed, and a water creature attacks them from a fountain. The next room reveals a load of Boggles and a bigger boggle friend - there's a massive fight which starts with a fog cloud, rendering their teleportation ability useless. The encounter goes on for a while, before the PCs defeat them all right before the bigger boggle escapes through a small tunnel. Mia breaks her Sybil mini in frustration.
Finding the two keys in the clutches of an elf corpse and a nearby chest, the party advances through the stone door. After investigating the shrine plinth, the discover the moons move and reveal a tight cavernous door behind it. They head through.
Waiting on the other side is a large, trashed church-like room with a large pillars holding the ceiling. A winged demon attacks, as well as a few more boggles. A battle rages as Maku-Maku turns into a panther, James and Joe double team the demon, and Hank throws spells from the shadows. The demon is defeated. Or so they think...
A booming voice fills the room, calls out their arrogance and their habit for making agreements with what they do not understand. The veil between existences has never been thinner... A second battle flares up, with a more vile demon and more and more boggles. Joe and James are knocked unconscious, low on health and the demon offers for Hank to serve his true master and Maku to share his power where it matters, offering to take them back to its own existence. They decline; the demon and boggles leave the material plane with a warning word for the PCs to "face the consequences".
The party is revived and they leave the dungeon to claim their reward in Norcastle.
Rewards Granted
They got a load of gold and silver from the Berbalang's lair, as well as a sword and shield combo with an eye with dragon wings on (same as James' armour). Along with this, they also received a potion of clairvoyance and spell scroll of fear.
Missions/Quests Completed
The PCs defeated both of the four-armed demons!
They also had an encounter with the Berbalang, throwing some truths their way about all these agreements they seem to be making with various extra-planar beings.
