Many centuries ago, a party of 7 foolhardy, young dwarves set out to find power greater than any before them in a selfish act to wipe out the elven race after what felt like an age of bickering. Nothing in particular triggered this greatly selfish act, but their own lust for fame for ending the many near-wars their race had with the "pointed ears". No one uses the phrase now in fear of being associated with them. After much travelling, the seven found themselves many miles deep under the Sheerpeak mountains, forced there from the great evils in the nearby woods to the East, next to the large lake. It's under these mountains that they stumbled upon something that would feed their greed and see the start of a very dark chapter in the dwarven history. No one knows exactly what happened under the mountain, but the dwarves weren't seen again for a century and everyone presumed them dead. The five were forgotten. On a particularly dark and wet day, 100 years later, they emerged with a great ferocity and engulfed local towns and villages in clouds of dark magic and enslaved elves and humans to do their evil bidding, building an army to grow their reach. The Drow also weakly fell to their knee and served the Dark Dwarves for decades. The evil veil slowly grew, which fortunately attracted the attention of greater destructive forces and eventually lead to their fall. An epic battled took place on the plains to the north of the mountain range between the Drow army and a strong weyr [were] of dragons. The cowardly Duergar five-some tried fleeing from their hideout through a secret passage that emerged near Coldpond Lake. However, in their ignorance, the Duergar fell into a trap in the nearby forest, set out by the great dragon, Imrag the Black . Imrag took his prizes and disappeared up into the highest mountains, never to be seen again. Many years passed before anyone dared go near Stoneview. A court of local wizards eventually combined their skill and managed to contain any evil remaining in Stoneview into a single, wide black pillar. The pillar apparently still stands in the centre of the underground city, ironically holding up the cave ceiling.
