Sea Harpy
One of many dangerous creatures of the sea, the sea harpy is known for both its alluring voice as well as its deadly poisonous tail. It is said that sea harpies come from a trickster god having sex and reproducing with a lonely sailor at sea. As such, the harpies received their humanoid characteristics, like their voice and looks, from their human half while also having deviously dangerous poisons and monstrous features from the trickster god.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
They often reproduce with one another even though they all give off female voices and attributes. Nobody has ever seen them mate.
Ecology and Habitats
They live amongst rocky cliffs and outcroppings at the sea. They are known to fish and scavenge for food like vultures. They can be found hunting the birds circling schools of fish or luring unsuspecting ship navigators who are steering the ship alone in the middle of the night.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Their poison is known to be very dangerous if injected into a victim with one of the only cures coming from the blood of a slain sea harpy. Often, if one is injected with the venom, they must quickly find a cleric or an alchemist to try to help them. As such, their blood and venom both can be sold at high prices to certain vendors.
