Armies of Furyondy

Furyondy’s standing army numbers only a few thousand, but noble and militia contingents can increase that number fivefold in times of emergency. Furyondy is a firm ally of Veluna, and has a strong friendship with the Highfolk as well.

As of CY 578, the standing army of Furyondy is composed as follows:

• 1,100 light infantry with axe or sword, wearing leather and shield (woodsmen)

• 700 medium cavalry with hand weapons, wearing chainmail and shield

• Knights of Furyondy (Knights of the Hart, arms are a pair of golden antlers on a field of blue):

• 300 medium cavalry with hand weapons, wearing chainmail and shield (esquires and sergeants)

• 200 heavy cavalry with hand weapons, wearing plate and shield (knights)

• 800 pikemen

Noble contingents and militia can be raised in

• 2,600 light infantry with hand weapons and short bows (skirmishers)

• 3,000 with hand weapons

• 3,000 medium infantry with hand weapons, wearing chainmail and shield

• 2,000 pikemen

• 1,800 medium cavalry with spears, wearing chainmail and shield

• 3,400 heavy cavalry with hand weapons, wearing plate and shield (knights)

The heavy cavalry of Furyondy is regarded as one of the most elite forces in the Flanaess, and is referred to as the “belled cavalry” for the myriad of bells that are sewn onto the harness of the horses.

Feudal French miniatures are appropriate for the armies of Furyondy, but Feudal-era English or German figures would work as well.
