Armies of the Iron Hills

The realm of King Holgi the Hirsute consists of rough, and in many places impassable, terrain. It is, however, on the very front lines against the hostile forces of South Province and its Imperial allies, surrounded as it is by enemies on three sides.

Fortunately for the Dwurking, the city of Irongate has promised nearly all of its own available forces, as long as no direct threat to the city presents itself.

As of CY 578, the Iron Hills can field the following troops:

• 2,100 heavy dwarven infantry with sword or axe, wearing chainmail or plate and shield

• 4,200 medium dwarven infantry with pole arms, wearing chainmail

• 1,400 light dwarven infantry with short bows

• 2,000 light dwarven infantry with crossbows

• 900 heavy gnome infantry with spears

• 750 medium gnome infantry with hand weapons

• 800 light gnome infantry with sling and short sword (skirmishers)

Out of those, a guard of 1,000 is permanently garrisoned at Bronzegate, but the rest are disbursed along the borders of the realm to react to any incursions, major or minor, by South Province.
