Whenever you make an ability check that involves the skill Acrobatics, Athletics, History, Investigation, or Survival, you can spend one Daring Explorer point to roll a d12 and add it to the result. You can choose to spend one of your Daring Explorer points after you roll the die, but before the outcome is determined.

You regain your expended Daring Expolorer points when you finish a long rest.
