Highfolk Armies

The name “Highfolk” encompasses both the independent town and the large, wooded valley to its north. On the whole it is a disunified place, but hardly unruly, for the Worthy Mayor of the town, as well as the High Elf Lord, various wood elvish earls, gnome princes, and woodsman village elders are held in esteem just as high. The whole region comes together in times of danger, and the force they field, while small, is especially deadly for its intimate knowledge of the rough and close terrain.

As of CY 578, both town and valley can field the following troops:

• Human Woodsmen

• 2,000 light infantry with axe or sword, wearing leather and shield

• 1,000 light infantry with longbow and sword

• Wood Elves

• 1,000 light infantry with longbow and sword

• High Elves

• 800 medium infantry with spear, wearing chainmail and shield

• 700 medium cavalry with lance, wearing chainmail and shield

• Halflings (mostly Tallfellows)

• 300 light infantry with slings and short sword or axe (skirmishers)

• Gnomes

• 500 medium infantry with hand weapons, wearing chainmail and shield

The Knights of the Hart branch known as the Knights of the High Forest (arms a pair of golden antlers on a green field) also patrol the Vesve Forest, but their numbers are exceedingly low and their impact on the battlefield would be minimal.

While demi-human miniatures are common enough in a variety of scales (including 15mm), the woodsmen of Highfolk might best be represented by rangers, if such can be found, otherwise.
