The largest gnome stronghold in the Domain of Greyhawk is one of the most peaceful communities around, Wandering goats inhabit the lightly forested hills; briars, low bushes, and tangled vines are everywhere. The goats are domesticated and refuse to leave the area, where they are well fed and cared for. Smaller underground “villages” are scattered among the hills here.
The worst problem here lies in the Deep Mine under Grossettgrottell (not shown on map). Fatal accidents and madness are more common among gnomes working this shaft than in any other local mine. It is believed a buried evil presence lies nearby, and the gnomes have never devised a plan to solve this problem.
A few gnomes from this area become adventurers and head north along various paths and trails into the hills of the Great South Peninsula, which are almost completely unexplored by humans. Old cairns, monster lairs, strange stone structures, and more can be found here.
