Once a thriving fishing community, Cantona was conquered by an orc army in 584 cy, turned into a humanoid fortress, then largely burned to the ground in 590 cy by a Greyhawk Militia army from Safeton. Its outer log walls and wooden towers were greatly damaged but had been reinforced by an earth wall, preventing the city’s army from entering the city. The ruined town is now thought to have an extensive tunnel system below it, dug out by the orcs. Only a few stone buildings survived the attack and Cantona’s streets are littered with burned debris. The three stone Woolly Bay docks are unused; the hulls of three large cargo vessels lie just offshore, their masts still poking above the waves even at high tide.
