The Armies of Blackmoor

Although small, the military of Blackmoor is quite puissant, and even small detachments are usually backed up by spellcasters or bards with unusual powers.

• 800 light infantry with slings

• 600 medium infantry with short bows

• 2,100 medium infantry with spears

• 500 heavy cavalry with lances, wearing plate and shield (Archbaron Bestmo’s personal guard)

As an isolated pocket of civilization caught at the edge of the world, Blackmoor’s troops should be represented by miniatures not normally found in the armies depicted in Greyhawk. Late medieval Russians or Poles would be a good fit, but if some other line of very baroque medevail-looking troops are available, such would also be most appropriate.
