The Armies of the Ice Barbarians

The military of the Ice Barbarians is organized along similar lines as the Snow Barbarians; a small core personally loyal to the king, who can call up a much larger force from his oathed nobles. Recent reversals in the west of the nation at the hands of what is now called Stonehold has caused a larger-than-usual call-up of reserves. All the forces below belong to the crew of a raiding ship, which are owned either by the king directly or by one of his nobles. One ship holds approximately 100 men.

The king’s personal retinue, ostentatiously called the

Iron Guard

, are as follow:

• 350 light infantry with two handed axe, wearing chainmail

• 800 light infantry with spear and shield

• 50 berserkers

The following contingents belong to the

nobles who hold oaths to the king

.

• 1,250 light infantry with two handed axe, wearing chainmail

• 2,500 light infantry with spear and shield

• 1,000 light infantry with sword and shield

• 250 berserkers

As before, Viking-era miniatures are best for the Ice Barbarians. Norwegians are preferred if available, but not required.
