Session 64: Aspect of the Overgod
General Summary
Though the party was quick to act, they quickly found themselves embroiled in a dangerous fight with the giant monster and the cultists who reverently flanked it. It bit with its long, corrosive fangs. Its six arms slashed attack after attack while manipulating a magical flail that lashed at the heroes' flesh. And its body seemed oddly resistant to their spells.
Soon Lins and Trislee were driven back to the previous room while Nemara vaulted off a nearly-dead cultist's face, flying to the relative safety of the ceiling with connall.
The presumed safety, that is, as the creature climbed the walls after them like a spider. At the last minute, the warlock hurled a bright mote of radiant energy at its face, exploding it all over the room.
The cultists fled in panic, but were hindered by exhaustion from the sickening light Trislee had filled the room with. They picked off all but one, who they held for questioning.
The cultist, a condescending goblin, offered some intel between criticisms of the party's vocabulary and tactics.
- That this part of the cell numbered a little under two dozen, most of whom were probably now holed up in the barracks to the north
- A clumsily-sketched map of the complex
- That the monster appearing was a sign of the Overgod's approval
- That their leader, a high priestess of Hextor, had her sanctum and divination chamber to the south, adjacent to their training space (which was also a sacred space in hextorian religion)
Rewards Granted
rough map
fang of the Aspect (w/bit of jawbone)
