Session April 9, 22:
A sparkler of light, an unseen shift of objects or the mind's thoughts projected into the real world... your affinity with the arcane has grown with age. Perhaps gradually and with expectation from family and friends, or abruptly and with suspicion from your community, you have begun to understand that your destiny is tied to the esoteric ways of the spell wielders. Having come of age, your families has committed to you education at Oerth's more prestigious school of magic, The University of Magical Arts in Greyhawk. Gathering your simple and limited belongings, you set out to the city to ensure you arrived on the appoint day.
Arriving mid-day outside the odd four sided structure, you gather with several dozen peers. The headmaster appeared in a flash of light to greet you all; "Headmaster Maervour" he said was his name. An elf? Covered in red leather, his dark black hair contrasting with is cool grey skin. He instructed the group on how to enter the structure, hinting that the requirement of casting a spell to enter was a first test. To those who waited to entered you know a single hopeful peer instead walked away saddened.
Inside you learned of the multiple levels, the magical transport tubes, the massive meeting hall in the lowest level, additional riddles filtering out even more peers and of the dorms with their different themes, styles and foods. You were entreated to a festival with food, drink, and a scavenger hunt. Seemingly random, you were grouped with other students, a dwarf, a gnome, some half-elves. With a custom list including bone comb, a bone, a hair, copper spoon, and rust dust you all were lead across the university to learn more about the layouts as you gathered random items. No. The professor mentioned them as 'components'.
