Keoland, Kingdom of

Population: 500,000 humans in Crown lands. 15,00 Demi- Humans   Capital: Niole Dra (pop. 42,00)   Ruler: Kimbertos I, King of Keoland, Lord of the March and Protector of the Southlands.   Symbol/Heraldry: a black lion, rampant dexter on a crimson field   Characteristics: Commercial, Sophisticated, Tolerant   LAND AND CLIMATE: Warm dry summers, & mild wet winters along the river lowlands and coastal areas, with snow only common at higher elevations in the Kingdom proper except in the very coldest of years.   GOVERNMENT: Constitutional Monarchy. A strong centralized government directed by the Monarch, who governs thru a Council of Lords consisting of the heads of the Great Houses, and consults with an elected Council of Commons over matters of taxation and trade. Government regulations cover many common subjects such as building standards, agriculture, and education.   INDUSTRY & RESOURCES: A large kingdom with many resources and a generous climate, Keoland is self sufficient in food & other basic needs. It also boasts many commercial ties to the other kingdoms and regions, allowing it to easily import many luxuries from other lands. Keoland exports include cotton, foodstuffs, and gemstones, and it merchants are known to deal across across the Flanaess and at the Azure Sea.   CULTURE AND PEOPLE: One of the oldest kingdoms in the Flaneass, Keoland has always prided itself on its culture and long history.
The Keosh people are generally light/tan in complexion, often more olive toned in coastal areas, but with lighter skin more typical inland. The distinctly aquiline Suel features are common in the southern provinces especially, and Suel curly/wavy blonde hair is found in many Keosh Humans across the kingdom. Their style of art and architecture might resemble that of Medieval Earth Portuguese or Italian. Elvish music and art are also common and widely appreciated. Magic is used openly when available, and Keoland is known for having produced many famous Wizards in its Schools and Royal University.
