The mages of the lost city of Ulmyr's Gate were an ambitious lot. They dreamed that they could create a gate between planes. They created a college of free study for all magic and people rallied to their cause. One night, they attempted a conjuration ritual would open a permanent portal to the Ethereal Plane. The spell backfired and the entire city was consumed and cast into the Astral Sea. This caused the The Arcanist Inquisition to rally against arcane magic, and the world moved on.
Years later, citizens of this lost city began reappearing where the city once stood. They seemed to vanish and blur in front of your eyes, trapped between worlds.
