Binea

Binea are rare, sapient species that not only are mostly nocturnal, but also one of the only sapient races that still walk on all fours. They look a lot like a mix of binturongs and leopards, having large, black furred bodies, with notable leopard rosettes that glow in the dark via phosphorescence. They supposedly have voices like sirens, and those with insomnia normally can attest to this. They are also pretty technologically advanced and possibly intelligent, so much so that they surpass most others. There isn't much information on this, however, as the species isn't seen a lot, nor is there proof of architecture.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Bineas, as listed above, look like a cross between a binturong and a leopard. Although there are times where they do walk on their hind legs, they prefer to walk on both pairs, despite their front legs being rather well arms. Their tails are arguably half as long as Angthsh tails. Despite this, they're only thick at the base, and then turn more noodle like and thin the rest of the way. They tend to have phosphorescence rosette spots in different places along them, and have somewhat long, albeit thin beards that drag across the ground.

Genetics and Reproduction

They are essentially hermaphrodites that can take as short as a week to as long as a year to go through gestation, depending on their health.

Binea tend to reach adulthood a little later at 23.

Ecology and Habitats

They tend to prefer deciduous forests, but tend to travel as well.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Binea typically eat grasses, but aren't against hunting and eating almost anything.

Their fur gets longer in the fall and sheds itself short again come spring.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Their faces are almost 1:1 to binturongs, though they do always grow a beard from their chin that rarely spreads around the underside of the head, only growing down and longer.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their ears and noses are pretty well at what they do, especially during daytime when, if they choose to try to stay awake during it, end up having their eyes blinded by such light. Come night time, their vision is vivid, being able to see things like it's daytime and sometimes even magical effects that supposedly linger.

Naming Traditions

Their last names always tend to start with a B. They seem to be the only species with a first, middle, and last.

They still believe in male and female, despite being an all hermaphrodite species.

Normally caution is warned within the species, as supposedly heartbreak can physically kill them.

They're pretty advanced, and while they don't normally have notable buildings since they're pretty rare to meet in general, they do have plenty of tools and tech that could be questionably better than even the best.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

They tend to hide from the world as a group together, surprisingly enough, and despite traveling and exploring, there hasn't been much sign of them.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They tend to shy away from other species, even going so far as to stay hidden from the world most of the time. There are still a couple that appear and mingle, however.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Their bodies are normally completely black except the rosettes and their beards. Their beards tend to take a white grey color, while their rosettes are black during the day, and turn different colors during the night.
