Hjrorg

Hjrorg are warm-blooded, semi furred turtle people. They stand as normal humans would, just with a bit of a hunched back. They're particularly hardy with their tough bones and all, especially so since their shells aren't too flexible. This means that their shell grows with them as they age. On the brighter side, their shells still have short, thick spines for extra protection. They are explorer's at heart, however, they aren't too outspoken. They prefer to stay out of others' problems except their own normally. That doesn't stop them from getting into their own problems, and find a bit of struggle with others with their beliefs.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The first notable thing about the Hjrog is that their turtle shells are made of bone rather than a carapace. And rather than having a rock-heard back and a slightly-less-so stomach, the bone is tough on all sides. Their bigger "joint caps" tend to have bone sticking out as well, such as their shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. Said pieces of bone tend to have a layer of flesh so thin that it is invisible to the naked eye. Spines tend to grow on that layer of flesh. The rest of them, however, tends to be really wooly and furred, so much so that the fur can sometimes grow on the sides of the shell. They have a small tail with a tuft of fur at the end of it.

Growth Rate & Stages

They actually have multiple stages compared to the "kid, teen, adult" cycle. They reach adulthood at 16 and move onto a new stage at 50 that they call "timed." Normally for old people.

Ecology and Habitats

They are normally seen in tundra and taiga regions, however, they can and will try to go anywhere that doesn't normally harm them.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They don't need a lot to eat, surprisingly enough, and eat a week at a time.

Biological Cycle

Their fur tends to get a little lighter between late spring and early fall.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Despite having a head full of hair, they still have openings and spots for their eyes, nose, and mouth, though their noses don't stick out too much. They also tend to have a lot of facial hair, from eyebrows, to moustaches, to beards.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They tend to live very close to the north and south poles.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their hearing isn't the best, but what they lack in hearing they make up for in tasting. Their taste buds are sensitive, so much so they can taste color.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Normally there is some sort of A in their names.

Beauty Ideals

Those with the most fur and hair tend to be better looking to the culture, however, it also goes against their survival of camoflauge.

Gender Ideals

Female and male.

Courtship Ideals

They don't tend to court at all, and thus don't have any really binding ceremonies.

Relationship Ideals

They tend to accept relationships, but they don't always last.

Average Technological Level

They actually are probably the least technologically advanced, as they are mostly nomads that don't settle down too often. They use what they can from the land they live in currently, and find themselves to be happy with it at least.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

They tend to speak Grard.

Common Dress Code

They normally don't dress at all, and if they do, it is mostly just straps to carry things.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They tend to try to stay out of everyone's way, but still end up in trouble with their joy in exploration.
