Tumira Voregal

Doctor Tumira Allif Vongal (a.k.a. The matter-mage)

Many aspiring mages who start out with potion-making and powdered spells seek out the most powerful ingredients, or the rarest. This is foolish. Most ailments can be solved with inor ingredients at different concentrations depending on the intended affects.

I propose a system by which ingredients and potionscan be measured so that novices can safely aquire ingredients and choose wisely.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Though at a healthy weight, Tumira did not exercise as often as most of her contemporaries did.

Body Features

Tumira had pale peachy skin with long cherry-blonde hari. Her eyes were a piercing blue and her feet were small, even for an Endrugalim.

Facial Features

Tumira's face is covered in minute scars from various acidents. Her jaw is well defined but round. Her high cheekbones compliment her furrowed bushy brows.

Identifying Characteristics

Many scars, and two fingers of her right hand are missing.

Physical quirks

Tumira walked with a steady and purposeful gait. She often slouched while working. Her right shoulder is slightly more bent as she carries heavy loads in that hand. She prefers nonverbal communication.

Special abilities

Tumira has a vast knowledge of magic. Like all Endrugalim, she knows how to handle raw power but abstains. She wields magic by drawing it out from specific objects in her surroundings or imbuing them with power to dispense later. She often uses a combination of chemistry and willpower to make her potions effective.

Apparel & Accessories

Tumira wears many cheap and comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes and long sleves. She often wears a shield over her eyes when she works. Many of her casual clothes are stained with chemical spills. When she wears formal attire, she generally wears a neutral gown with a few bright accessories. She often carries a pouch with her so that she can gather tools for her work.

Specialized Equipment

Tumira often wears a pouch and vials at her belt. She often collects things sh has not noticed before, either to examine them more closely or ask locals about it later. She can also be seen with a quill and a scroll to document her findings.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Tumira was born and raised in Thalica. Her mother was a cobbler and her father was a courier for the wealthy of the city. Some of the items he was tasked to handle were volatile and rare ingredients. Tumira noticed this and found her purpose at only sixteen. For the rest of her life, she dedicated her time to researching ingredients and finding inexpensive legal and less dangerous alternatives. She established a point system which now is the standard measuring system for mages who work with material components or extract their spells from physical objects. Tumira published her first book two hundred years into her career. Since then she has made a number of books which she consistently updated until her death.

Gender Identity

Tumira considered herself to be feminine, but did not believe that her gender should interfere with her work and notoriety.

Sexuality

Tumira had few relationships over her lifetime. She felt some attraction towards males of her race, but focused on her work.

Education

Tumira studied at magic colleges and scientific research facilities in order to properly organize her discoveries.

Employment

Tumira worked as a courier with her father for the first two hundred and fifty years of her life. She became self-employed when book sales increased. She established a small shop where she sold material components for spells, and some finished products complete with her numbering system. After a few hundred more years, Tumira relocated to Arton to finalize her work and retire.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Tumira changed the world with her research of components for magical use. She created a number system which had six numbers with scale of 1 to 5 which indicate the risks involved in using these ingredients. Thee total determined whether or not the ingredient should be used commercially.

Failures & Embarrassments

For her research Tumira felt that studying rare or illegal ingredients or components was necessary to accurately label them. After completing her body of work, Tumira regretted that decision as the illegal components were made illegal for legitimate reasons and the rare ingredients were made rarer by her efforts.

Mental Trauma

Tumira bears the scars of messing with volatile ingredients. She lost two of her fingers in an explosion. She was also scalded by piping hot liquid which splattered violently over the lid of the pot.

Intellectual Characteristics

Tumira was very zealous about her work. She considered it to be a revolutionary afford and she was right. Her staunch motivation emboldened her to worship Ruhim and request his favor and longevity to fulfill her purpose. She spoke three languages including Corthalian Sabbish and Hagarian. She had the voice of the most enthusiastic singer.

Morality & Philosophy

Tumira believed that the ends do not justify the means as she once thought. Her early career was very risky and she became heavily involved in the black market. She does not regret her actions but still considers it a great failing of hers.

Known Languages
Though Tumira did not study how language works, she did study many cultures to determine which ingredients are taoo in other nations. She understands Corthalian as her first language but speaks Sabbish nearly fluently. She knows some basic Hagarian phrases but worked through a translator for most of her time there. She found it difficult to pronounce many sounds of that language.
