Announcement Committee
The Announcement Committee is actually one of the oldest committee’s in Gyllis, and existed before Gyllis became a prison, though the form it has taken has drifted over the years. In its first form the Announcement Committee documented the construction and growth of the dome, as well as important developments within the city in the form of electronic articles one could access from any computer interface. As the dome continued construction, the Announcement Committee gained access to a more prominent method of communication, as a ring was built into the dome itself to display messages. In cases of emergency this board would be overwritten by emergency instructions telling citizens what actions need to be taken, but in the meantime the Announcement Committee has free range to it.
Before Gyllis dome became a prison, this message board was used selectively, and only for major stories applicable to citizens throughout the dome. Once Gyllis became a prison this devolved somewhat. The dome display board is a constant stream of information, displaying whatever headline the Announcement Committee found interesting that morning, as well as a constantly updating list of who all is in the Box, for how long, and for what, as well as a list of all the committees that exist in Gyllis, and details for any events the other committees might be holding that day. Other committees can mail the Announcement Committee and ask them for a spotlight on this board if they have an announcement to make.
This has not stopped the creation of news articles either, rather the opposite. As there are no rules or criteria needed to be met before an article can be created members of the committee are free to write about whatever interests them, and they often receive write-in articles from the Special Interests Committee’s members detailing interesting things happening in the Special Interests Committee’s research on various topics.
