The Mad Science Committee

The Mad Science Committee was founded in 378 PC by Dr Anita H.R. Manslaughter. Dr Manslaughter was a gender affirming care provider that was sentenced to Gyllis for her work. The Mad Science Committee was created to provide gender affirming care and other medical services to the people of Gyllis. The committee has vastly expanded since its inception. Dr Manslaughter’s original Mad Science Committee split into four subcommittees: The Trans Your Gender Committee, Baby Making Committee, Medical Committee, and ER Committee. And several new subcommittees were added: the Robot Arm Committee, Drug Committee, and Fun Science Committee.

The Trans Your Gender Committee provides gender affirming care to citizens of Gyllis for no charge. The Baby Making Committee reverses the anti-fertility procedures of Octus for those who want it. The Medical Committee provides general medical care. The ER Committee handles medical emergencies. The Robot Arm Committee was added in 381 PC and creates aids and assistive devices. The Drug Committee develops medicinal and recreational drugs. The Drug Committee was established in 394 PC. The Fun Science Committee was formed in 385 PC to perform genetic modification and experimentation.

The Mad Science Committee members are generally trained healthcare professionals. The majority of them were sent to Gyllis for medical malpractice or similar crimes like Dr Manslaughter. Some, though, do not have any formal medical education from Octus. They were instead trained by the other members of the committee to different degrees of success. Mad Science Committee procedures still have a low mortality rate because they are attended by several committee members that can step in if the need arises. Procedures are also free or extremely low cost because Mad Science Committee members provide their services for the love of their profession instead of material gain.
