Yeti Fur

Properties

Material Characteristics

Yeti fur is incredibly thick, coarse fur and is usually quite long and white as snow.

Physical & Chemical Properties

When external forces touch Yeti Fur, the material seems almost as if it's absorbed the frigid temperatures that the Yetis themselves call home. However, when worn the furs confer a surprising level of warmth, even in the coldest reaches of the world, and the thick hide provides a decent amount of protection from physical damage (on par with studded leather armour), and is particularly resistant to cold damage.

Geology & Geography

The fur in question is harvested from slain Yetis, which in turn are found in the coldest reaches of Gyrraholm. While some have been found near the peaks on Wildehart, they've been sighted on Kaldrold as well. Specifically, the fur has been seen worn by Goliath Chieftains near the highest peaks in Kaldrold, though few are able to verify these claims for themselves.

Origin & Source

Careful skinning of the fearsome Yeti yields this coarse fur, which can be crafted into simple but effective clothing. Actually slaying these beasts is quite the challenge, as they're able to freeze even the most staunch combatant dead in their tracks with a single gaze.

History & Usage

Everyday use

To call Yeti Fur clothing a "common" use is something of a misstatement. Clothing is the materials most common use, yes, but most would live their entire lives without seeing the beasts who are slain for the fur, let alone people wearing the fur itself.

Cultural Significance and Usage

One of the only known cultural uses of Yeti Fur is within the Goliath tribes of Kaldrold. Chieftains are often signified by their wearing of a Yeti-Fur cloak, complete with a hood adorned with Yeti Horns. It is said that the cloak was crafted from the hide of one of the greatest prizes of one of the Goliaths most revered leaders, and so it is held with much respect. If the rumours are true, this same cloak has stayed with the tribe in question for centuries.
