The Vildr were created by the Vikir Monumentals, but to ensure that they would not only survive, but thrive in their frost bitten homeland, they were gifted with bestial abilities by the Ruler of the Vikir, Kaldhrenn Doomcleaver. The Vikir were known to posses a range of these attributes, but Kaldhrenn knew well that bestowing more than one of these gifts would breed complacency in his progeny. And so these Vikirian gifts were divided amongst the clans: The folk of the Jorren clans were gifted with the ability to reinforce their hide to be strong like a dire boar. The Hafra Clans were granted the capacity to shift their muscle mass to gain balance like a mountain goat. People of the Hestura clan claimed the gift of speed, able to shift their forms to lengthen their legs and reinforce their muscles. Klor-folk were granted bear-like claws that could be unsheathed in battle, while the Mudra clan were gifted the fangs of wolves. Lastly, the Veidrorg were gifted with the passing sight of a hunting hawk. While these clans would feud over territory and power for a century after their arrival in Kaldrold, the Vikir recognized that if their people's attention was always turned inward, it would make them vulnerable to outside forces. So they created a disaster that could only be averted if the Clans would unite under an official rule- an Elder Tempest was summoned, and of the Clans' chosen, whomever claimed it's heart would rule. Though this would create a greater outward defense between the Clans, it didn't halt the constant feuding, and while the Jarls would rule their own clans as the Wild King dictated, any position of rule could be won by trial of combat.
