The real government lies with the guilds, which have the final say in all political matter. They only have an agreement to fulfill the capital’s requests on a "best effort" basis

High stone walls around the mountain's base. The proximity to [Zamok Ognya] also allows the capital's army to arrive within a few days at most.

Industry & Trade

Main export is crafted goods of all kind, with fish and produce being second, though far behind.

Infrastructure

Lots of tunnels in the mountain for travel and storage.
West of the city has a windmill farm erected recently by the immigrant kobolds.

Yusef’s Traveling Emporium

A small shop buying and selling a variety of general and specialty goods. The owner, Yusef, travels around the empire and sets up shop temporarily in each major city as he passes by.Seeing him in Vrata Ognya is rare however, as he usually only visits the city on the edge of the empire.

Residential, heavy farming traffic, with large roads.

Bone Quarry (10)

Military headquarters, home to the city guard barracks and several training grounds.

Sentinel’s Pass (11)

Technically not the highest point of the city, however the sentinel tower built there rivals the castle in height and allows to see up to 50 km around the city.Home to Seyo

The Under Steps (17)

A set of tunnels and large rooms dug underneath the High and Low Steps districts in order to facilitate passage from the Low Gate district. The main tunnel leads directly to the Table district. Most of this district serves as a giant storage room. These tunnels were dug magically far after the city’s founding; initially, the city was only on the actual mountain. As it grew also across the Ginto river, an easier passage was needed to join those two parts of the city.

While @[Perekresaten] is the most prestigious destination for aspiring artisans, Vrata Ognya is the most accessible one, leading to the highest amount of artisan per capita in the empire.

Mountain

Vrata Ognya sits on a semi-artificial mountain. Legend has it that powerful magic was used to reshape a hill into a pic where a castle was built for a scion of Io. Since this would have happened before Arkhosia’s era, it is entirely speculative, however there is at least proof of artificial shaping across the mountain, so the legend remains.

River

Vrata Ognya, as its name suggests, is located on the banks of the Ognya river. A smaller tributary, Ginto, flows through the city and into the Ognya river. Since there are many bridges across this tributary, it has been regularly considered to rename the city Vrata Ginto, but the motion has never gone forward.

Dry and windy, quite warm.
