Haela
1423
The Haela is a rich world of blood-fueled Empires, wild republics, ancient traditions and long-held feuds. The cultures that intertwine and battle are vivid and complicated. The Aelgari Empire stands poised for domination, devoting their expansion to their pantheon of deities. The annexed states silently rebel, although some are not so careful to hide their displeasure. Prejudice keeps the strict lines of society but rebellion sparks among the subjugated.
The wild K'hili Islands Nation struggles to maintain their culture as the Aelgari try to assimilate them into a foreign world. The wandering Monomak people float across the seas in their huge city-ships, following the kraken and never setting foot on land. The ancient K'hili-Monomak alliance against the Empire has never been more likely to rise again.
To the east, the Republic of Rauhir resists against the onslaught of the Aelgari armies. Their infrastructure and bureaucracy crumbles as they pour more and more resources into keeping the slowly advancing armies out. The expansion has long ago become a scorching-earth campaign, and the casualties of battle leave the border territories littered with the vengeful survivors.
To the north, the peaceful Tribelands of Drekar Fjoll lie, unwilling to interfere with the unrest of the South. Their Council of Seers tread through the threads of fate to guide their people. Magic thrives here, unlike the slaughtered Weavers and Saints and in a completely different way than the subtle ways of the Aelgari monks. Cities are carved into ice and stone and ancient forests spread untouched.
In a world of subterfuge and manipulation, a stage is set to tell the tales of those who reside in the turmoil.
