Sentient Weapon

A weapon may become sentient at the time it is crafted. This is generally induced by magic when it's a desired property, but it also happens randomly. Although it is a rare occurrence, it is often unwelcome. In addition to their primary languages, sentient weapons that are used as Traps may speak a dialect called Trapeze, that is specific to their dungeon.   Sentient weapons share a common world they call "Sheathspace". When a sentient weapon is inside a scabbard, holster, quiver, pin cushion, or giant rock, they enter an alternative world where they can see and speak to one another, when within a certain real-world range. For instance, one may be within a three-day march of an enemy, but that distance is significantly shorter within Sheathspace, so your sheathed weapons will already be trading insults while sheathed. Most sentient weapons who enter Sheathspace consider that to be their primary home, with any excursions into the surrounding "real world" being a momentary inconvenience.
