Spell Check

While in towns, you are cursed by Spell Check. The icon for this curse is a paperclip. This curse prevents you from (accidentally) using your wand to cast a damaging spell against an NPC, and is commonly found in marketplaces and other friendly areas. Signs are posted, the ground is marked, and fences are in place to make it clear where it applies. Unfortunately, nothing prevents enemies, thieves, and monsters from waiting outside, or casting spells into the Spell Checked zone from the outside. But everyone takes this flaw in stride.
