Unknown Potion

Older potions, typically found in dungeons, do not have clear labels. An alchemist can be commissioned to certify the potion, and tell you what it is. This adjusts the label in your inventory.

If implemented as a game, Liquid X may be used to represent potions. This allows players to deduce the nature of an Unknown Potion by its appearance. For instance, if it has green foam, it has some healing in it. If it bubbles, it likely contains phlogiston, which is used in fire spells.
