Alkoa (Al-Kowa)
An Alkoa is a Samvaran title typically referring to a druid who is also a holy person or priest. The title, which just means "sacred one" in old Emprisaran, is a fairly common but powerful title. To be an Alkoa is to be someone actually in touch with the divine, whose wisdom is made physically manifest and measurable in magical ability. No non-magical priest can access that layer of mystique and legitimacy that Alkoas have, and many Samvaran religions strive to make as many local priests into Alkoa as physically possible.
While 'Alkoa' is often used synonymously with 'druid' due to the frequency with which druids hold positions of religious power (especially in Samvara), the two are not the same - a druid whose power lacks connections to a major religious structure is simply a druid, not an Alkoa.
While Pratasam, Halikvar, Areto, Rueka, and antique Ayshanism all agreed on this specific definition of what an Alkoa is, there is one group that has a broader definition: the Sumoxans. In Sumoxa, the title of 'Alkoa' is sometimes used by their "Embodied Priests" - who can be any kind of spellcaster, not just druidic.
