Ezia Mahabatu
Ezia is a young bookish woman from the Aizidi neighborhood of Etekamo - a childhood friend and neighbor of Makar Mesaba. Ezia joined Makar on their grand adventures, and has since become the wizarding apprentice of Arzet Devadov.
Ezia has seen the world, playing the role of confidante, teen sleuth, and studious apprentice. But she has spent her life mostly attending the needs and dreams of others. Perhaps, one day, she'll have her own destiny and a journey all her own.

Personal history
Ezia was born the second daughter of local brewer, who was himself the second son of a crime boss in the local Circle syndicate. She spent her childhood comfortably middling class, her family reputation kept her from being bullied, and she generally lived life materially better than her peers. Sickness, famine, bullies, or poverty were not Ezia's childhood monsters, but her family were. Her family had high expectations and constantly kept Ezia in a state of indebtedness - literally, as her father calculated her food and lodging costs as a running debt, and encouraged her to do the same. She was taught that managing the family business and finances was her path out of debt and into love, and she devoted herself dutifully to the local temple and scribe's guild to learn all she could. But her father, mother, and grandfather were nearly impossible to please and seemed oddly angry that she would become shy in response to their abuse.
Ezia found freedom in reading about foreign and fantastical lands, and she found refuge in the home and social sphere of Makar Mesaba. When Makar went on to the court of Princess Maina Eramzir, Ezia began to draw close with their mutual acquantance, Dailio. And Ezia's family encouraged her to spend time with this sorcerous prodigy - when Makar left on a grand journey, Ezia's family allowed her to go along. After all, Ezia's proximity to rising sorcerous nobility was worth more to her grandfather than another accountant.
Alongside Dailio, Makar, and other companions, Ezia ventured out from Etekamo. She spent most of that almost two years of sailing on board a Selkie ship reading, learning languages, and mastering the basics of being useful on board a ship. But, at times, she ventured out to face the horrors of the divine contest Makar was a part of. In Vikasha, Ezia helped infiltrate a local cult and navigate the twisting landscape of poverty and intrigue that defined the Corporate City's society. In Asalay, Ezia learned basic wizardry at the Arcane Arcanum - and eventually met and became apprentice to another God, Arzet Devadov.
In the return to Zerua, Ezia confronted her parents after years abroad. She finally saw the ways that they manipulated her for what they were, and left that life behind. When last seen, Ezia was helping coordinate the evacuation of Elorta.
