Personal history

Ava was born the fourth child of a noble line and was given a choice: crusading or the priesthood. She chose the latter, and became a shrinekeeper at an early age. Expectations were high and she rose to meet them. She learned languages, history, religion, politics, even magical theory. Quickly rising to the top of the temple hierarchy, she was an outspoken academic who had a firm sense of her own importance and intelligence. Unfortunately for her, this made her both noticed and identified as a threat. Her superiors assigned her to the Amber Crusade- precisely the fate she worked so hard to avoid- along with her friends at the temple.
Ava hated the war even as she thrived in it. Through what might be called good luck, Ava was assigned to a crusading expedition that was able to slip deep into enemy lines. Lurking near the Northern Feywilds , Ava fought monster, dryad, and mercenary alike for three years before returning with what was left of her expedition. She found great fame and began receiving commissions with very high-ranking expeditions. After years more of this, she returned to Anraketh to become the Ecclesiarch of the conclave her former temple belonged to. She began to supervise crusading efforts, doing her best to save lives and protect communities. She gained a reputation for honesty, integrity, valor, and wit. Increasingly sick and tired of her Ecclesiarch partners and ready to leave the crusade to others, she sought speakerhood. After a few years, she got it and was shipped to the city of Ederum  to join the Perpetual Conclave .
Since then, she has gained a reputation in the Conclave as the honest one. Competent, well read, militarily experienced, and fairly direct, she became popular among her peers as a judge of character. Several years ago, in 2017, she became the First Speaker- the ultimate authority of Orthodox Desmianism. Incredibly young for a First Speaker, she was chosen as a candidate who could be a popular, long-reigning figurehead for the faith.
