Meako

Also known as Birdkeepers or Rangers.
Meako are powerful fighters capable of limited spellcasting found in Loanua and certain limited parts of Garadel . Each is bound to a Meako Bird: a massive eagle or moa bird the size of a horse (Moa birds are large carnivorous flightless birds akin to emus or ostriches). Typically bound at a young age, a Meako derives their power from their bond with nature and their bird. Even after the bond, the magic doesn't begin immediately and the bird can be hard to control- only through practice and experience do those things come. After a certain point, Meako can even resurrect their bird if slain.
Meako are some of the rarest spellcasters found in Halika. The first Meako were two girls who were granted the ability to commune with nature by Halycon who united Loanua island in peace. They have since being deified as The Lovers Ara and Kara. The strongest meako since then is Coconi  the Golden, a rambunctious adventurer (born 1080 in Loanua).
