The world has no shortage of ancient evils and buried kings. No shortage of cults, either. Even still, the Anchored Sons are worthy of note. To call upon the tangible strength of the very stars, that's real power.— Rafael, Wayward Refuge
The Anchored Sons are a secret sect that has always operated on the fringes of society. Their members are feared for the strange powers they wield and their ancient patron is only spoken of in whispers. Though they have existed for centuries, sightings of their members have become more and more frequent.
The King in Chains
Thousands of years ago, there was an immortal king who ruled over a vast kingdom. His power was immeasurable, his will insurmountable. His enemies wrote extensively of his sins which are nearly all that remains of his legacy. It is said that the armies of ten kingdoms were needed just to weaken him so he could be chained. The chains were cursed with ancient magic drawn from deep within the earth. The king was imprisoned in an unmarked tomb and the rest of the world forgot his name within a few generations. But the Anchored Sons remember.
When the Anchored Sons were formed is debatable, but for centuries they have been secretly gathering members and power. The founder, a man known only as The Keystone, discovered the prison of the Chained King and learned of his history. Convinced that the Chained King was, in fact, a god The Keystone formed the Anchored Sons and dedicated the group to find a way to free the immortal.
Draw Down the Heavens
Acolytes of the Anchored Sons train in secret with long-forgotten techniques passed to them by their patron. Though it slowly destroys their mortal bodies, the Sons are able to call upon the powers of the stars themselves. With one motion, they can increase gravity around their limbs or even at a point as small as the tip of a finger. This increases the damage of their attacks exponentially. More powerful members can increase gravity in entire areas, release bursts of heat and radiation, and blind enemies with the light of a thousand suns.
If a Son is surrounded or about to die, they will create a gravity well from their own heart causing them to implode with massive force and collapsing their body into a small star. What remains will glow brightly and radiate heat like a real star, though the effects die quickly and a sphere of dense material is left behind.
