Those Oath Bound banners never come in. Not in death, not in failure, not in victory. And those who hold the oaths have lips of cold clay and dust. Never shall our banners come in.— Sir Gerrard, High Lord of the Knights of Truth and Beauty
Though the world has moved on, and the age of knights in shining armor and living flesh has long faded to memory, the Knights of Truth and Beauty still hold to their oaths. Their bodies have long since perished but their bones still inhabit their armor and fulfill their duties to a kingdom that crumbled long ago.
Oath Bound
The Knights of Truth and Beauty formed thousands of years ago, brought together from all corners of Shira'tol by a mysterious benefactor. According to legend, the person who created this organization was a god in disguise, though the exact identity is a point of academic contention. Their true purpose was secret to all but the inner circle.
The Knights of Truth and Beauty quickly gained a reputation for never failing in their goals or breaking faith. They fought for many different kingdoms in their early years and were highly sought after for their skills in battle. There were rumors that the Knights had made a pact with supernatural forces as they were said to keep fighting even after death. With the undead being rare in the age of legends, this was a terrifying and wonderous thing to behold.
War of Faces
The beginning of the end for the living Knights of Truth and Beauty was the War of Faces. The Knights had allied themselves with the fledgling kingdom of Tamerlight and forged oaths of protection with the Sirens. It was at this time that the Faceless Empire waged a scorching campaign of conquest, destroying all who stood against them.
