Final Report

Citizens:

This is our final report on the "Return to Space" mission. We want to make clear that we took the immense task of bringing back "the anomaly" with the utmost respect we ought to the crew's families, our duty to our government and our service to the people. All the years of research, scientific and technological development lead us to the conclusion we'd be able to replicate the phenomenon that disappeared as suddenly as appeared. We were willing to give all all we had to rescue our brave crew lost on the other side of the galaxy. This was our oath.

Journal Entry 1584

For a year Scientists for Future drained the resources of the planet in order to accumulate enough energy to replicate "the anomaly" and bring back the two lost spaceships and their crews. During that time catastrophes such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, droughts and magnetic thunderstorms wrecked the surface of the planet.

The plan we devised was controversial, but we all agreed that the lives of our greatest minds were worth the risk. We asked for one year of your time and resources in order to accomplish this goal, to fulfill our promise. In this year we all have made great sacrifices, we know you've resigned your comfort, we did it too, we worked harder than ever. In this last year, we destroyed the limits of our bodies and minds.

Journal Entry 1584

The survival of any life form by the end of that year was put into question, but all hell broke loose when the day the Final Report was published. Scientists for Future failed in their attempt to replicate "The Anomaly" and not only that, they found out their misuse of the Deroth's resources was the culprit of the catastrophes that were killing the planet.

Every step of the plan was careful executed, supervised and evaluated according to the high standards we are known for. Everything we did was scrutinized under the watchful eye of the government and the companies that founded our plan. The plan was flawless, as well as the execution.

Journal Entry 1584

The Lead Researcher, breaking his organization's tradition, uttered their failure when the journalists asked about the connection between the "Return to Space" mission and the devastation the planet was suffering. His final words were, "We...have...miscalculated". After that he was lynched by a mob., The rest of the SF's member were hunted and killed.

Nevertheless, one year has passed, our heroes are still absent and as you may notice we face bigger problems now. Worry not, dear citizens! We have the answer! If you give us one more chance, we can fix this!
