Whisperwind Tome
This ancient tome is bound in ethereal blue leather, with pages that seem to shimmer with an inner light. The book floats gently when left unattended, and its pages turn on their own, as if caught in a perpetual, gentle breeze. The Whisperwind Tome is sentient, imbued with the soul of a long-deceased archmage known as Caelum the Wise, who dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the protection of the realm.
Guidance of Caelum: Once per day, the wielder can consult the tome for advice on a particular course of action, receiving insight equivalent to the guidance cantrip, but applicable to decisions rather than tasks.
Wisdom of Ages: Once per long rest, the wielder can cast identify or detect magic without expending a spell slot, components, or needing to have the spells prepared. This is conducted as Caelum lends his expertise.
Protective Winds: When the wielder is targeted by an attack, Caelum can use a reaction to create a gust of wind, granting a +2 bonus to the wielder’s AC against that attack. This ability can be used three times per long rest.
Properties:
Arcane Repository: The tome contains spells from every school of magic up to 5th level. The attuned spellcaster can prepare spells from the tome as if they were in their spellbook. Caelum the Wise was an archmage who foresaw a great calamity. In his final years, he transferred his consciousness into his most prized possession, this tome, hoping to continue guiding the forces of good long after his body had perished.
