5E - Ongoing damage

Suffer ongoing damage at the beginning of the target's turn.

Often an action may be taken to eliminate this condition. For example, an action may be taken to attempt to snuff the fire of a target taking ongoing fire damage.

At the end of the target's turn, the target of ongoing damage is usually allowed to make a save to eliminate this condition.
