vashu, the Children of the Ochre Womb, are creatures created by the god Ilvir.
Ilvir seeks the secret to creating souls and is continually creating strange life forms in his quest to create his own souls. Ilvir is frustrated for he has at his disposal only a limited number of souls, which he is constrained to employ over and over again. Ilvir's Ivashu are sterile and cannot reproduce. When they die, their souls return to Araka-Kalai to be reincarnated in a new, possibly experimental body.
Ilvir cares little for his creations, casting them into the world where most are quickly slain; some are eaten by predators, some suffer from mishap, some are captured and thrown into the Pamesani arenas to entertain the mob, but a few Ivashu get past these obstacles, it is these creatures that may be found in any part of Hârn.
Ivashu are often imbued with strange powers; some are intelligent and speak their own Ivashi language, others are semi-intelligent and cunning, some have powerful mental powers, some are so bizzare they defy all reason. Almost any conceivable type of creature may be found. However, Ilvir seems to to find some forms more pleasing than others creating them over and over; Aklash, Hru, Nolah, Valasta.
