Armist ranks are represented by bright green bands, known as colours, around the left wrist and right ankle.
The ranks are as follows:
  • No previous service: No colours
  • One year of service: One colour
  • Four years of service: Two colours
  • Sixteen years of service: Three colours
  • Thirty-two years of service: Four colours
Should an armist work in a Hold until they earn their first brasor's colour, they will be permitted to wear both armist and brasor colours.
This is called 'doubling'.
A member of staff that has achieved the highest rank in both colours is known as a 'full colour', although this has only occured once in the history of the Empire.

They also take up duties to keep watch at night and organise events and leisurely activities.

Certain patients may be dangerous, but not have committed a crime.
To prevent patients from harming the armists, armists must undergo the same training as brasors, including various forms of self defence and risk mitigation.
