Motions

Motions, named after the popular phrase "Motions make movement, movement means progress!", are the official currency of The Empire.
Coins are available with values of 1ℳ, 2ℳ, 4ℳ, 6ℳ, 8ℳ, 10ℳ and 12ℳ, making payments from 1ℳ to 24ℳ using one or two coins possible.
Odd numbers of Motions are rarely exchanged and usually represent unfinished payment or compromise.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Each time a batch of coins is produced, a new, highly complex mechanism is developed that reacts to pressured air let through a hole in the coin. The coin may react by whistling a short tune, vibrating, letting the air out in bursts, animating the head or number on the coin or many other such symptoms, allowing the imprinted production number to be referenced with the expected symptom to prevent forgery.

Significance

Although primarily economical, the reactions that may be induced through commonly available air nozzles, for example a fixing on a spout of a kettle, delight old and young, leading to a strong emotional connection to the coin.
