Tipsy-Pill Syndrome
The Tipsy-Pill Syndrome is a medical condition where the victim experiences drunkenness for an indefinite amount of time, even when not having consumed alcohol in any shape or form.
Victim's lives may receive a severe negative impact caused by the illness, though in more cases then not it does not change their initial condition, only make it inevitable and irreversible.
These individuals may find it enticing to be promised unending drunkenness for the price of a so-called Tipsy Pill, but since its effects are irreversible it has been entirely banned from the Tightish Empire and is now only obtained via the black market.

Transmission & Vectors
Tipsy Pill Syndrome is most often encountered in patients who have consumed a number of illicit Tipsy Pills.
It is to be noted that in exceedingly rare cases the condition may develop autonomously.
The cause of this autonomous development is often attributed to contact with miasmatic air, though further studies in the field are required.

Causes
There are currently two opposing theories as to the underlying cause of the symptoms.
The first is that an indigestible substance is consumes, with the substance corrupting components of regular nourishment into alcohol.
The second school believes the cause to be a flying parasite of microscopic size which invades the host and causes them to experience the effects of drunkenness.
This may result in reckless behaviour, which may be beneficial to the parasite's survival and procreation.

Symptoms
Symptoms for the condition are fairly simply identified, manifesting themselves in the form of drunkenness without consumption of alcoholic beverages.
This contains, but is not limited to, reduced cognitive functions (especially in terms of reasoning and judgement of risk), reduced dexterity and precision in movement, limited visual perception and balance.

Treatment
There is no known cure to the condition, though it is theorized that severe starvation may alleviate symptoms.
Recently discovered procedures may allow for prolonged starvation by introducing nutrients directly into the blood.
Is not fully understood how the blood delivers nutrience to the gut for processing and the refinement of these nutrients is also yet beyond the grasp of science, so this approach may be unrealistic.

Prevention
it is currently recommended to avoid sewage and other potential sources of miasmatic air as well as refraining from taking Tipsy Pills.
Regular visits to the Grand Theatre of the Globe and other establishments with air control systems may also be recommended, though this is not a universally accepted method of prevention and is often a case of personal preference.

Interesting article. How did they come up with the theory that regular food are turned into alcohol? If they believe that, it seems logical to postulate that the solution is starvation. Did they try to push the limits of starvation even without a sustainable way to deliver nutrients to the patients?
