The People's Champion is a profession that is a mix of public relations, military, and entertainment, but with an emphasis on one of the three aspects. This changes depending on the champion himself.
The People's Champion is meant to be a symbol to the city, to represent the aspect that is most loved or most hated. This depends on whether or not the leader of the city is loved or hated and what the relationship looks like between the People's Champion and the leader.

Qualifications

To be The People's Champion, one must excel in one of three areas to the point where they cannot be ignored by the ruling class. These three areas are public relations, military, and entertainment.
The most recent champion, Mal Un, is the best racer in the city.

Career Progression

Becoming The People's Champion is the pinnacle of one's career. There is nowhere to go but down.

Other Benefits

The People's Champion is not paid directly. He can demand whatever he wants, within reason, and often it is granted to him. If the champion is loved, it will be easy to obtain what the Champion wants. If the champion is hated, it will be difficult though requests are likely just being left alone by the populace.

Purpose

The point of 'The People's Champion' is to have another person in power they can either demonize or glorify. It provides a uniting effect on the long-eared humans that live in Asylum City.

This status is only below the Governor or the King.

Those associated with The People's Champion often find their lives improved, mostly through increased funding to whatever career or event the Champion is excellent in.

Workplace

The workplace varies depending on the area. Public Relation champions tend to work in an office, trying to keep problems and crime down for a ruler. Military champions work on the training fields with the soldiers when the champion is not leading the charge against an enemy. Entertainment champions usually work at the stadium or coliseum.

Dangers & Hazards

Most dangers come from leading the military. While most conflict seems to be from the guards onto the populace, there are battles between the long-eared humans and the Hydro Heads.
