Robot

Overview

Robot is a czech loan word, robot- denoting something work related, and has been used extensively in literature to refer to a self-guided machine or an artificial person.

Because of the second meaning, robot has become common parlance for people so obsessed with implants that they can be describes as more machine than human. The Czech side of Czechoslovakia is a hotbed for people willing to undergo this kind of experimental procedure, a testimony to the country's desolate state and dangerous nature.

Somewhat ironically in the Czech language the word used for people that replace everything but their brain is rosoba (shortened czech mixed word for robot (same) and person (osoba)).
