Kaldran

Kaldran is a northwestern smalltown in Salternia. Formerly it was a mere hamlet between two long stretches of woods and has slowly grown into a convenient site for trade and commerce until it attracted more and more permanent residents. At one point the Gannendar family settled there and helped transform the town into the number one address for animal trade. In this, they were successful enough to now be considered the ruling family of Kaldran and one of the richest families in Salternia. Though their methods of achieving their goals, mainly how the animals are tamed and trained are highly unethical and caused the family to lose a daughter, they seem to show no remorse at all and enjoy their newfound status and power. Kaldran is mainly known for the training and trading of various mounts, messenger birds, and exotic northern pets.

Recent Events

The Kaldran trade had quickly recovered from Calennon's attack and operations are in full swing yet again, if not even worse than before. The druid's had decided to let them get away with a warning at first and it seems to be that now the Gannendar's are more powerful and untouchable as before and long out of the druid's reach. Because of the methods the Kaldrani apply in taming and training animals, they are under constant scrutiny by the nearby Circle of the Wolf. In the past few weeks, it seems that a visiting Druid has vanished in Kaldran. The townspeople and the Gannendar family in particular are known for their distaste of Druids and their practices. As their vanished daughter, Kaeilynn Gannendar, is believed to have been abducted by a druid years ago, who had done extensive damage to the village's economy at the same time.

Infrastructure

Kaldran features two inns, the new and larger Stormfalcon's Inn and the old-timey and struggling Gale Pub. Locals use the Gale as their favoured tavern, as it is less frequented by travellers and merchants and makes for a good place to have a respite from work and vent about the busy lives the Kaldrani live. The Gale also offers an excellent house-mead, but only for the locals. The Stormfalcon's Inn is named after an exclusive bestselling messenger bird breed from Kaldran, that ultimately made the village known to the Emperor himself, as he seems to favour these birds by now. It houses mostly out-of-towners and travellers, as well as merchants and financiers. Noble guests and clients in Kaldran are always taken in by the Gannendar's themselves.
