Dreamfall
A vast area within the sphere of life where the first courts of the Fey rose. Its borders are mercurial, it defies attempts to map it and locations seem to shift and changes by the day based on rules that only the inhabitants seem to understand. It is called the Dreamfall by the inhabitants who believe the glowing motes that fall from the canopy of the Tree of Solitude are the Dreams of the Tree that have yet to be realized. The Inner Dreamfall has these motes constantly drifting down atop it while the Outer Dreamfall will have "Dream Storms", where large swathes of the land will have this phenomenon happen and it is widely considered good luck.
This area of strange, unusual life and often alien natural laws comes from the enormous tree that grows from the center. This tree looms above the sphere of life, visible from hundreds of miles away at times with its canopy piercing the clouds. It is known as the Tree of Solitude and it is the reason for why the Dreamfall came to be.
The Dreamfall is broadly separated into two main areas, the Inner Dreamfall and the Outer Dreamfall. The inner being the area directly under the canopy of the Tree of Solitude and is where leaves, branches and seeds from the tree often fall and is where the natural rules of the Sphere of Life are at their most strange. The Outer Dreamfall is a huge swathe of area where the influence of the Tree of Solitude mixes and changes the Sphere of Life. Not quite as strange and dreamlike as the Inner Dreamfall it is still markedly different from most of the rest of the Sphere of Life.
Inner Dreamfall
The home of many Arch-fey and Elven Gods, this area sits in an eternal twilight beneath the massive canopy of the Tree of Solitude. The natural laws in this place are changed, following guidelines that only the beings that live there can make sense of. Eladrin make homes out of enormous fallen branches while Hags lurk in the darkness beneath the twisting roots. Wandering the Inner Dreamfall can be incredibly dangerous, words bind and names have power beyond the pale and concepts like Good and Evil are vague guidelines at the best of times. Distance and Directions mean little within the Inner Dreamfall, a journey that took ten minutes last week might take ten years the next time you attempt it if you are not well trained by a native to know the ways and the whens.
Outer Dreamfall
The other portion of the Dreamfall, it is gigantic and is largely considered to stretch as far as one can see the Tree of Solitude itself. Less strange than the Inner Dreamfall, it is still a Fey, wild land with monsters and laws that seem to be enforced at whim. Its landscape is mostly that of forest and meadow but three major areas stand out. There are more elven settlements in the Outer Dreamfall than elsewhere on the Sphere of Life. Many Firbolg make their homes in the Outer Dreamfall.
The Dreaming Desert
A large desert in the Outer Dreamfall. As with everywhere in the Sphere of Life, this harsh land is still home to a vibrant tapestry of living beings while being an absolute nightmare of jagged cliff, burning sands and death for the unprepared.
It was the secret home to the Fomorian race of Giants before an attack by the god Kestrel with the unwitting aid of the Bleak Branch Court cursed them and twisted their once beautiful forms to be grotesque parodies of Giant Kind. It is said that Rhorxas, the god of giants had reflexively pushed them away and caused them to become dark and murderous, twisted in mind as well as body.
Bleakbranch Marsh
A sprawling marsh, fetid water and rotting plants stretch as far as the eye can see. Home to many of the fouler entities found in the Dreamfall, it is a terrifying playground for the Bleak Branch Court at the worst of times.
The Shining Court
A shining figure rules the Seelie Fey from the Shining Court. The captivating and heart-wrenchingly beautiful Queen Hellania sits upon the Throne of Solitude at the base of the tree that gave all Fey life, at her side stand her two consorts Duke Justinious and Duchess Kelaria.
The Bleak Branch Court
The first Unseelie court is ruled by the Lords of Winter, 12 powerful Arch-fey who hold court in a palace carved from a rotting branch from the Tree of Solitude in a fetid marsh in the Inner Dreamfall. The Lords of Winter have not had any of their number replaced since the Mythic Era when the Unseelie courts first rose as the dark opposite of the Seelie. It is rumored that the Lords of Winter in fact rule their own courts on the other Spheres but this has never been confirmed.
The Rootways
The roots of the Tree of Solitude reach deep and for skilled and knowledgeable creatures they can provide routes to all the Spheres below the Sphere of Life, that of the Material, Death, Earth and Fire.
The Branchways
The branches of the Tree of Solitude soar high and pierce through the spheres above the Sphere of Life, allowing skilled and studied individuals to travel to the spheres of Water, Air and even into the void beyond as well.
